Join us for a four-week book club devoted to an in-depth reading of The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin.

Using Elaine Castillo’s How to Read Now as a framework for approaching The Fifth Season, book groups will meet weekly to discuss the book’s language, plot, and themes. Through reading The Fifth Season, participants will put into practice Castillo’s challenge to change the way we read the world.

This virtual book club will meet on Thursdays at 5:30 PM via Zoom throughout SB Reads (10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3).

Participants will receive a free copy of Elaine Castillo’s book How to Read Now. Free copies of The Fifth Season will be available beginning at the SB Reads Kick-Off on October 6, and at all Library branches on October 7.

Limited to 12 participants. Registration is required.
