Santa Barbara Public Library (SBPL) is inviting teens in grades 7-12 to participate in a series of dynamic, hands-on workshops designed to improve emotional intelligence and foster healthier relationships. Led by Christy Stillwell, M.A. Psychology, and founder of What is LOVE, these workshops will focus on key areas of social-emotional learning, including recognizing healthy vs. unhealthy behaviors in friendships and relationships. Through games and interactive exercises, teens will receive guidance and practice decision-making, problem-solving, and consent. The restorative approach employed helps build healthy relationships, increases capacity for empathy and self-agency, and supports students in asking for help. In addition to practical strategies for enhancing emotional awareness, attendees will also get connected to valuable mental health resources.

These workshops, which include free snacks, provide a welcoming, confidential environment for teens to engage and connect with peers. Teens can also earn one hour of community service per session.
