Authors who live in Santa Barbara County, or whose books are set in Santa Barbara, may donate a copy of their book to SBPL’s Local Author Collection. Find more information about donation guidelines in our Collection Development Policy. Local Author Book Fair
Santa Barbara has a vibrant community of writers and Santa Barbara Public Library has supported this audience for many years through its popular annual event, Local Author Day. SBPL will host a Local Author Book Fair in the Faulkner Gallery this year, and our goals are to invite the community to meet these authors, purchase their work, and support our local literary talent.
Use your Library card to find free online classes on writing and publishing
Register for Coursera with your full name, email address, library card number, PIN (last four digits of your phone number), and make sure to select Santa Barbara Public Library. Search the catalog for terms like: ‘publishing‘ or 'writing'. Find more information on our Coursera page.
Create an account on LinkedIn Learning with your Library card, then use the search function to find classes that meet your needs. Try searching things like: ‘creative writing’ or ‘book publishing’.
Library cardholders aged 55 and over can create a free account on GetSetUp to virtually connect with other writers online. Once you’ve created an account search ‘writing’ to find classes and/or writing groups to meet your needs.
