Materials Donation
Santa Barbara Public Library appreciates material donations. The vast majority of donated books are not able to be added to the Library's collection, due to limited space and the availability of staff to catalog and process materials for lending. Central Library maintains a small book sale area that benefits the Friends of the Library. Popular materials in like-new condition may be added to the book sale.
The following materials are not accepted:
- Encyclopedias
- Magazines
- LPs, VHS, or audio cassette tapes
- All Textbooks (K-12 & College)
- Software
- Items that are damaged or in poor condition
- Items that are not in demand

Please limit donations to two grocery-sized bags of materials at a time. Donations may be dropped off at our Central and Eastside locations, and should be handed to a staff member inside the building. Receipts are available upon request. Contact the Montecito Library at 805-969-5063 for more information about donating materials at their location.
