Santa Barbara Public Library’s Teen Interns are inviting fellow teens in grades 7th, 8th, and 9th grades to join us for our first-ever Winter Ball at the Crafter's Library at 9 E. Figueroa on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm.

Bring your friends along to dance or try some of our fun activities, such as tarot card reading and crafting masquerade-style masks! Magical costumes or elegant party attire are encouraged for this festive event. DJ Darla Bea will be taking requests for music, and you can even submit song suggestions in advance. You won’t want to miss this free event! Please register in advance in the Library’s event calendar. Don't worry about getting hungry, we will be providing snacks and food from our local businesses, including pizza from Pizza Mizza, and donuts from Hook and Press Donuts. Drinks – such as punch and sparkling waters – will also be provided.

As teen interns for the Santa Barbara Public Library, we get to help plan and participate in offering many events for kids and teens. We share our ideas for different types of events, communicate within our team, and help prepare, decorate, and set up. This internship offers many different types of work experiences, as well as opportunities to connect with the community.

As teens ourselves, we aim to create a cheerful and comfortable space for teens in all of our spaces and events. Creating spaces where teens can get together and have fun in an environment just for them is an important way to build social skills and confidence. Although your nerves may get the best of you, this is an opportunity to get to know someone! Stepping out of your comfort zone can help you gain confidence and learn more about yourself.

We really hope that you can make it to the first-ever Winter Ball! We are excited to see you for a winter-themed and magic-filled night at the Crafter's Library, located at 9 East Figueroa Street on December 16th, from 5-7:30 p.m.

This project was supported in whole by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library.
