Job seekers will have the opportunity on September 28th from 3-6 PM to connect with over 50 employers with immediate openings in the greater Santa Barbara area. Interested job seekers that are looking for new careers are encouraged to attend. The State Street Job Fair will provide access to employers, from a wide variety of organizations and industries, who are seeking committed, hardworking, and enthusiastic employees to fill available positions.

This unique job fair will be hosted on State Street's 700 and 800 block between Ortega and Canon Perdido, and additional hiring businesses within the downtown area will be noted by balloons in their storefront window.

Food and drinks will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis and attendees can enter drawings for $25 gas cards.

Job seekers are also invited to participate in workshops to improve their resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and to get tips on how to make the most of State Street Job Fair. Workshops are hosted in English and Spanish by Santa Barbara Public Library’s SBPL Works! program, America's Job Center of California, and Santa Barbara City College. Job seekers are encouraged to register at StateStreetJobFair.eventbrite.com for the event and to view the full list of workshops being offered by these agencies.

“The City of Santa Barbara is committed to working collaboratively to support the vitality of both its workforce and the business community,” said Library Director Jessica Cadiente. “The Library department has a track record of hosting successful job fairs and working with numerous partners, and it was a natural extension of the work we were doing with jobseekers in our SBPL Works! workforce development program.”

Santa Barbara Public Library has partnered with the Workforce Development Board of Santa Barbara County, Downtown Santa Barbara, Visit Santa Barbara Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce, America’s Job Center of California, and Santa Barbara Community College to coordinate the State Street job fair. This event is supported by grant funding provided by the Santa Barbara Foundation.

This is the first of several job fairs that SBPL will coordinate over the next year.
