Volunteer Opportunities Available

Make a difference by volunteering at the Library! Whether you enjoy helping students become more successful at school, pulling books from the shelves for patrons in the Children’s Library, or helping someone build their technology skills, there are opportunities to match a wide range of skills. 

Below are some volunteer opportunities where help is most needed right now. 

Book Detective - Central Children’s Library

Support the Library by pulling items from the shelves that patrons have placed on hold. Must be 18-years-old or older and volunteer one day a week in two-hour shifts at the Central Library. 

NOTE
The current opening is for the Children's Library; this volunteer position requires frequent bending to access low shelves.

Tech Coach - Montecito Library

Provide one-to-one assistance to patrons who want to improve their computer or mobile device skills. Must be 18-years-old or older and volunteer one day a week in two or three-hour shifts that include scheduled appointment times as well as drop-in sessions at Montecito Library.

Homework Help Volunteer - Central Children’s Library

Assist students ages 6 - 11 with assignments in math, social studies, writing, and/or science. As a Homework Help volunteer you, along with other staff and volunteers, will provide guidance on how to solve problems or find answers at once-per-week group tutoring sessions. 

NOTE
Homework Help sessions will be scheduled once enough volunteers have been trained.
