Sustainably SBPL Monthly Challenge March: Connect with Nature

Authored on
Body

Why?

Connecting with nature is good for our mental health, and provides great opportunities for learning and exercise outdoors. Nature also connects us with others in our community. Santa Barbara is an incredible place to experience the beauty, calm and refreshing energy of the outdoors.

How?

Go on a hike, walk on the beach, go to the park, look closely around you! Spend time exploring and reading books, learning from people that have knowledge about the natural world. The library has a lot of items and community passes that you can use to try things out and discover new places and activities for free.

Our Sustainably SBPL initiative has lots in store for you this month, from a soil preparation workshop with SB Master Gardener, a field trip to the Botanic Garden, and family literacy classes at our Yanonali community garden plot. Our Book to Action program kicks off March 12th with a community read of Kiss the Ground by Josh Tickell, focusing on the relationship between soil and climate.
