Your Library Card: The One Card to Rule them All!
This September, Santa Barbara Public Library invites everyone to celebrate the endless possibilities that come with having a library card, the one card to rule them all. Beyond books, a library card unlocks a world of learning, creativity, and connection -- all for free!
With your Santa Barbara Public Library card, you can explore:
- Thousands of physical books for all ages across our fiction, non-fiction, graphic novel, and local history collections.
- Spanish titles across formats for all ages.
- The World Languages Collection for adults and children.
- Film & TV in our physical and digital collections.
- eBooks and audiobooks on Hoopla, Libby, and Palace Project.
- Curated reading lists.
- Language learning and research databases.
- Innovative maker programs -- including 3D printing!
- The Library of Things collection, where you can borrow musical instruments, STEAM kits for kids, local museum passes, and much more!
To honor the power of one card, SBPL is unveiling three new library card designs, each showcasing artwork by local Santa Barbara artists that celebrate the neighborhoods served by SBPL branches:
- D.J. Javier created a special edition card that blends the city’s coastal spirit with our love for reading.
- Jeremy Harper’s painting of Butterfly Beach at sunset celebrates Montecito Branch Library and our beautiful beaches.
- Miguel Rodriguez (Omepache) honors the Eastside Library and its residents with a striking image from one of his murals at Eastside Neighborhood Park.
These unique library cards are now available at all SBPL locations and Library on the Go, but you can be among the first to get them at the Library on the Go Happy Hour at Brass Bear Brewing (3302 McCaw Avenue) on Tuesday, September 17 from 5:30-7:30 PM. Visitors can sign up for new cards, browse library materials, explore resources, and connect with fellow library lovers, and win exciting prizes!
